What is GFC Hair Treatment and How Does it Work?

Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) hair treatment is an advanced, non-surgical injection therapy that delivers high concentrations of your own growth factors directly into the scalp to reverse hair thinning and stimulate regrowth. It works as a more potent version of PRP by reducing hair fall, accelerating follicle repair, and strengthening the hair shaft from the root.

According to Dr. Anju Methil, Dermatologist in Andheri, Mumbai, “GFC isn’t a miracle shot,it’s biology.Your own growth factors, pulled out, concentrated, injected back into thinning patches. Follicles wake up over weeks. Density returns over months. The real trick is finishing the full session count and not stopping at session two because something already looks a little better.”

How Does GFC Hair Treatment Actually Work?

Whole thing comes down to one idea. Pull growth factor proteins from your own blood, inject them straight back into the thinning patches, let the scalp do the rest. Closed prep, sterile shot, follicle wakes up. That’s the loop.

• Blood Draw: A small sample comes out of the arm, just like any routine pathology test, nothing dramatic about it.
• Concentrate Prep: Sample runs through a closed kit that pulls out pure growth factors and leaves red cells behind.
• Scalp Injection: Tiny shots placed at follicle depth across thinning zones, numbing cream first if scalp runs sensitive.
• Follicle Reboot: Growth factors tell cells to fix, blood flow goes up, dormant follicles get back to producing hair.

Who is GFC Hair Treatment Best For?

GFC needs a live follicle to do anything. Early to moderate thinning shows the best response. Fully bald zones with dead follicles? Transplant territory. Picking the right patient is half the result, the other half is finishing all the sessions.

• Early Thinning: Diffuse shedding, widening parting, or temple recession in the early stages.
• Post-Pregnancy Loss: New mothers dealing with telogen effluvium, where shedding spikes hard after delivery.
• PRP Plateau: Patients who liked PRP results but want a stronger, more consistent concentrate.
• Stress Shedding: Sudden loss from stress, illness, or crash diets, while the roots are still alive.

Why Choose Dr. Anju Methil for GFC Hair Treatment?

Dr. Anju Methil, founder of Skin and Shape Clinic and a dermatologist with 29+ years in practice, runs GFC sessions in closed sterile kits, no air exposure during prep. The plan gets built around your scalp type, hair loss stage, and whether minoxidil or finasteride should run alongside. Mumbai weather can be brutal on scalp health, so monsoon patients usually need slightly different aftercare.

Equipment is FDA-approved, hygiene runs strict, and every injection happens under direct medical supervision.

How many GFC sessions are needed?

Usually 4 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart, for visible regrowth.
